Married for 29 years to Angela (Marotta).  Three children:  Joseph, 22; John, 20; Erin, 18.
 

Education


Graduated with Bachelor of Arts Degree from Miami (Ohio) University in June of 1975.  After working for one year as a caseworker for the Lorain County Welfare Department, entered Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Fall, 1976 and graduated with degree of Juris Doctor in June of 1979.

 

Professional Career

 

Admitted to the practice of law in Ohio in December, 1979.  Admitted also to practice before the United States Federal District Court and the United States Supreme Court; started as law clerk for Lorain Law Director in 1977, and commenced working as a law clerk for the Lorain County Prosecutor and for the firm of Cirigliano & Grunda in 1978; after admission to the Ohio Bar in 1979, joined the firm of Cirigliano & Grunda as an associate and became an Assistant Lorain County Prosecutor.

 

In 1984, was appointed as Sheffield Lake City Prosecutor while maintaining a growing private practice; in 1989, left position as Sheffield Lake City Prosecutor and engaged full time in private practice which continues today.

 

Private practice has included wide-range of clientele, including individual clients, employers, business organizations, non-profit and community organizations and labor organizations; acts primarily as lead counsel and chief negotiator in all matters; extensive complex litigation experience.

 Recent representations include the Nord Center dispute, Elyria Firefighter litigation and the Lorain CRA Tax Abatement program.
 

Civic Involvement

 

Coaching at the Lorain YMCA, YBL (youth basketball league) program for six years; Little League coach for six years; volunteer with the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce and its Small Business Development Center (later, Lorain County Together); Member of Knights of Columbus,-James L. Martin Council, Lorain, and St. Peter Church; Past Board Member of Lorain Port Authority; Current President of the Lorain Civil Service Commission.
